Iguazú Falls are part of the Iguazú National Park, created in 1934 and included as a World Heritage Site in 1984 by UNESCO. Iguazú Falls were named as one of the Seven New Natural Wonders of the Modern World in 2011.

Stretching along the border of Argentina Brazil and Paraguay, the Iguazu Falls are taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide.

Victoria Falls is known as the world's largest sheet of falling water, while Iguazu Falls is the widest waterfall system in the world.

Begin your visit at the Visitor Center at Iguazu National Park. Entry tickets can be purchased at the kiosks or online for approximately 120 BRL. The ticket includes a bus ride that stops at various points of interest within the park.

Second Stop: This stop offers a thrilling boat ride under the waterfalls. Visitors can choose between a wet or dry boat ride, which requires an additional ticket costing around 380 BRL.

Third Stop: A 1-km trek leads down to the waterfalls, where you can marvel at the breathtaking panoramic views. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including Toucans and South American Coatis.

Fourth Stop: If you prefer to skip the trek, you can disembark at the final stop and head directly to the falls.

The stunning waterfalls are a sight to behold, and capturing photos from various perspectives may take at least an hour. Note that the park closes at 6 PM.

Additional Activity: After 6 PM, visitors can enjoy the Sunset by the Falls experience, available for an extra charge.

There are long waiting queues for the buses and boats.

Advisable to do the boat ride first, followed by a hike to the Devil’s throat.

IGUAZU FALLS – Argentina Side

Rushing river with white rapids under a blue sky, scattered clouds. Dense, green forest lines the distant background. Energetic mood.

Start your journey by purchasing tickets and boarding the train from the main center. Head directly to the final stop at Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat), where you can marvel at this iconic section of the falls.

Afterward, take the train back to Cataratas Station. From here, you can choose between two hiking trails:

Upper Circuit (recommended): This trail offers breathtaking views from the top of several waterfalls, allowing you to witness the powerful cascade of water from above.

Lower Circuit: A closer, ground-level perspective of the falls.

River with lush green forested banks, a rainbow arches over the turbulent water. Clear blue sky and a serene, natural setting.

For an adventurous experience, take a boat ride to the base of the falls. This involves a short hike from the center to a bus, which will take you to the port.

If time permits, consider additional activities such as exploring the Bird Park or embarking on a Jungle Safari for a more immersive experience.

Comparing the Falls

Argentina vs. Brazil: Both sides of Iguazu Falls complement each other beautifully, offering unique perspectives. Visiting both sides is highly recommended. The boat ride to the base of the falls is similar regardless of the side you choose.

Iguazu vs. Niagara: While I haven’t visited Niagara Falls personally, those who have often claim that the Iguazu Falls experience is far superior in scale and beauty.

This unforgettable destination is a must-see for nature lovers and adventurers alike!
