They say- ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’. The external appearance of this House gives the appearance of an old, worn down villa.
But the rooms are very comfortable. 3 normal sized and 1 small room, 2 bathrooms, and a small open common space with a view of the valley and the mountains.
The owners, Mr Parminder Singh and his family, share the villa which makes it very comfortable for the guests. Their hospitality Is unmatched. They take care of your meals, albeit Vegetarian, home cooked and fresh with a few hours prior intimation.
The Homestay is at a distance of 2km from Subhash chowk and 4km from Gandhi chowk.
There are plum trees in the backyard of the homestay. The kind owner gave us lots of these. The plums had naturally ripened and were very sweet and juicy.
Eating plums on their terrace with the snow peaked mountains in the backdrop and tossing the seeds in the woods beyond, was another memorable part of our stay in Dalhousie.
We saw the landlady pulling strings thereby making a metallic ringing sound in their backyard. She did this few times a day to keep the locusts (‘popat’ ) away from the fruit trees. They also had an apple tree in which small apples had fruited.
