When planning a holiday to Dharamshala, it’s important to understand where to plan your stay. Dharamshala, Mcleodganj and Naddi are towns 15 mins apart, on the same mountain, in increasing order of altitude.
Dharamshala is thus more of a commercial place, Mcleodganj has a plethora of eateries and a teeming Tibetan market while Naddi is much more serene with little tourist activity.
Himalayan Homestay, at Naddi, is a Hotel or may I say a Villa with 3 regular sized rooms and a single small room. Managed by Rajinder Singh and his family, it gives a decent view of the Dauladhar ranges. Breakfast and meals can be arranged at request.
P.S. There are not many good dining options available locally.
Hospitality as always was top-notch. The rooms are self-sufficient with good wifi. The terrace is cool and one can spend the evenings as a common place.
Techies and freelancers tend to spend months at the Homestay working from ‘Home’.
Early morning bird watching can be very calming and a photographer‘s treat.
And just 500 metres away, is the Naddi view point, where the evening can be spent watching the sunset. It’s a spectacle when the sun goes down over the hills and the sky gets enveloped in an orange.
