Rendezvous with the Tiger Sharks

Maldives is known as a Diver's paradise. From tiny critters to the huge tigers, it caters to the tastes of all divers. Fuvahmulah City is an island (atoll) in the Maldives. Fuvahmulah means "Island of the Areca nut palms", Fuvah (or "Fuva") in the local language. Other places in the world like Penang in Malaysia and Guwahati in Assam, India, are also named after this nut.

is known for its Pelagic sightings and specially for its Tiger Shark dives. An AOW certification and 20 plus dives is mandatory for diving in this region. It's an hour's flight from Male.

Fuvahmulah Scuba Club takes care of the stay and diving.

TIGER SHARKS: 10-14 feet long and weighing up to 1,400 pounds, the tiger shark is one of the sea’s large and mighty creatures. The name refers to the dark stripes on their sides and backs, which is one way they can be distinguished from other shark species. However, the stripes typically fade as the animal gets older.

A rendezvous with a Tiger Shark, as the name suggests, is not a chance sighting and certainly not a one anybody would forget soon.
